Basic info on cassava

Cassava is a very important root crop in Nigeria. There is no ethnic group in Nigeria that does not consume staple foods which are derived from this plant. There is gari, lafun, fufu and even snacks made from fresh boiled cassava tubers.

Cassava takes between 8- 18 months from planting to maturity. It can be processed into the above named foods or sold to industrial end users. the industrial uses of cassava are as follows:
1. Ethanol
2. Cassava flour
3. Cassava Starch
4. Glucose syrup
5. Animal feed

The average yeild from 1 hectare of cassava farm is 15 tons if good management practices are in place and disease resistant species are planted.

10 Hectare farm acquired
